••• We're Back Again•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
1999 started off good, 'cause we're back! Now the question is, are you?
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

After many long back breaking hours of deciding just how to transform this cool newsletter into a masterpiece, we're back in action. We can't lie, it was our fault for the lack of our newsletter back in '98, but that was last year and this is this year (gosh I'm technical). Unlike before, we promise you'll receive a new issue each week, and if you don't (don't hurt me) I'm sure there'd be a good reason (like the dog ate the newsletter). So, without further ado, I present you the very first publication of '99 of the YT Direct newsletter from Youth Tech!

••• Lookback @ '98••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Last year couldn't have been all that bad, right? Let's take a lookback at it...
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

~ The long awaited AOL4.0 came out, with it's dazzlin' colors and cool interface the majority of AOL's users accepted using it without a problem. Every where you go online you see the footprints left behind of 4.0 users. Some very cool footprints and others more attention getting (if only I could throw my mouse at the people who use multi colored text that's all wavy).

~ Windows98 was released by Microsoft. This release of Windows wasn't as drastic of a change as Windows3.1 to Windows95 was. But, thousands have already upgraded (or bought a new computer that came with it). If you hate web browsers, this upgrade isn't for you, period.

~ AOL and Netscape buddied up. Yup, AOL bought Netscape which is the producer of the Netscape browser (which includes the Sun Microsystems company). It took quite a lot of moola for America Online to do this, too much to even count on all your fingers and toes combined. People's thoughts on this merge have been mixed, some think it'll boost the popularity of AOL, others think it's a down right stinky move for them.

Of course, tons of tech stuff happened last year than what's above, 'cause what was mentioned is just starting to scrape the edge of things that happened which were tech related.

••• YTCC Factoids•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Insane info. on one of YT's staffers that you probably could live without.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

This week, we take a look at the very handsome YTCC Blaze, and some of his deep dark secrets that he decided to share with us. Alright, he also wrote this week's Factoids article, maybe that's why he's so dang handsome?

Nicknames: Jefferoo, Jeffowey, Hick, & Brotha (he doesn't need anymore.)
Fav. Food: Chicken Nuggets (which are 'da bomb), Pizza, & Greasy French Fries (and I think my veins don't have blood in them, just cheese)
Music Choice: It has to be Alternative Rock! How the heck can you use the computer with any other kind of music playing in the background? Don't give me any of that country stuff (no offense to those who groove to country music)
Weird Fact 1: I like to brag about my super natural ability to make more typos than anyone else! It's true, just come watch me host!
Weird Fact 2: I spend forever long trying to get my hair just perfect, and then it ends up looking like garbage. But luckily I still have friends that'll stick by my side, no matter how bad of a hair day I have.
Habits: Well, I have this weird habit of always cutting my finger nails as far as I can get them, (hangs head in shame). Alright, I must confess it's not as bad as some of your habits, but I don't wanna know some what some of yours are.

If you'd like to yack your head off with YTCC Blaze in our chatroom, just come visit him Mondays & Thursdays at 7pm EST @ keyword: YTCHAT (Youth Tech Chat)

••• New YT Area•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
We've added to the awesome content we offer here @ Youth Tech!
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Since Youth Tech has been on AOL, there used to always be some sorta request for a programming area. Before December of '98, there was no such animal, err, area. Now with the many hours of hard work, some cool YTCCs put together Coding Microsphere. Coding Microsphere offers tutorials on how to program in numerous programming languages. You can join in on the weekly "Beginner" & "Advanced" programming challenge as well. Also, you can download example programs, ask questions in the programming message boards, and even participate in an hour long programming chat on Wednesday evenings.

To access the Coding Microsphere just clickhere!
