ELF'S HOLIDAY SPEECH!
=====================
Hello hello hello! So much to say, so little time... has anyone else's week
been as hectic as mine? I'm beginning to wish there were more than 24 hours
in a day. That's why it's Monday and this newsletter still isn't done, if
anyone was wondering. I've had the weekend from, er, heck. Ahem. Here's a
brief reminder: never ever wait until the Saturday before Christmas to do
your shopping. Most likely, the one store you needed to go to will have a
line out the door and wrapping around the corner to the food court, and
whoever drove you to the mall will insist that going back to that store again
at nine the next morning will somehow decrease the number of people standing
there waiting... so you go home having wasted your entire afternoon... then
you'll get back the next morning and the line will be even longer!

Not that I know this from personal experience or anything.

Anyway. Last newsletter, I was feeling kind of down and I asked if some kind
souls could send me cheery mail. What a response I received! I wasn't
expecting anything like it, and it really made me feel warm and fuzzy. I did
promise to thank everyone personally, so here goes. In no particular order
other than how quickly they sent the mail <grin>. Thanks so much to: AdamKB,
YTCC Josh, Skidlz, TartanHelp, ILuvFlutes, YTCC DNA, davidthenerd@juno.com,
Fun 4 3, TheSmith5, EMacEditor, FSUGO1, KA246, Lara Murf, Mogjosh,
MrFlyTrap1, Double Cow, Abityobity, EL SHAD 1, Zonk15, SareyBeary, DMO DA
DOG, Earth7147, Joho666, DLillib994, Matt20000, MSincl5954, DALIA14,
Bisquick2, Surf60, Bun Safari, CP WIZ, SHMN14, Amm4SF, Wolfboy214 and KGIDO.
Special thanks to Marzypan and Ruby4242 who offered to help me out. And,
thanks one more time to YTMail and YTCC Shaun who were so kind as to forward
me all the letters that were accidentally misdirected. If your name is
mentioned here and you haven't gotten a letter back from me yet, I'm sorry.
It's been so busy lately, as I mentioned. You'll have mail very soon. :)

In closing, I'd like to say Merry Christmas for those who celebrate it on Wednesday, and my best holiday wishes to you all. Also, don't ever put foil wrapping paper in the fireplace.

Once again, send your comments, suggestions, and flames to me at: YTCC Elf.

SENSELESS BABBLE!
==================
Talk @ YT! I can see this will be a short section, since it's occuring to me after that long-winded speech above that Edition 7 of the YT News (that's the one you're reading now) is going to wind up being longer than usual. Quite. <grin>

Back to talk. YT has a new area! Yep, that nifty place that used to be the Chathouse is now Talk And Communicate! otherwise known as Talk @ YT! Getting tired of the exclamation points yet? Well, clearly there is something exciting here. We've got chat, we've got message boards, we've got techie pals. What else do you need? Oh, and someone remind me to start up the Official BeckyYT Fan Club. I keep noticing how people wander into the room and immediately yell out, "You're still here Becky?" Yup, she is. Duh. <giggle> Let's see, what else to say about the Talk @ YT area.. well, I think I've mentioned it all. It's really cool. Go check it out!

DRESS CODE!
============
From now on, a suit and tie will be required at all times while browsing the Youth Tech area. Ha, gotcha! <smirk> Actually, you can wear whatever you want. This particular dress code is for the forum itself. By now, unless you've been living under a rock, you've noticed that YT has a new look. Why this is, I haven't the slightest. You'd want to ask YTMail about that. <grin>

However, never look a gift forum in the mouth! All your favorite Youth Tech stuff has been updated, revamped and improved. In case you were wondering, your very favorite YT area is the Download Center (shameless plug there). Check out the Info Desk's new content. And send lots of mail to YTCC DNA, the Download Center Coordinator, telling him how great it is. <giggle>

Not to leave anything out, I suppose I'll mention that Techie Terms (managed by the wonderful YTCC Music) is a neato area too. Plus, we have a new Winter Holidays stuff and the ever-popular Teen Reviews contest, whose promo has been on the main screen for a long time now. Then there are the super-cool message boards (overseen by YTCCTerryH) Notice how I'm attempting to plug for every possible area in one paragraph, here. It takes talent to do that. <smirk>

So, come and see YT's new look!

========================
THROW SOME MORE SNOW!
========================
Snowsnowsnow! No, I'm not going to throw snowballs at anyone. I'd like to, but I don't think my boss would appreciate it. I can hear it now.. "Elf, I heard you were throwing snow at the members. You're fired!" That would be just typical of my luck. So you're all safe for now. Hey... wait... I didn't say you could throw snow at me! Stop! No! Sto-- *splat*.

<wipes snow off face> Ahem. That was lovely. As I was saying... Youth Tech's Winter Holidays area is back! More accurately, it never left. I'll run through the script again:

Yes, throw some snow! YT's new Winter Holidays area is now open for business.
Igloo space is limited, please move to the back of the igloo to make room for
everyone else. No shoving, please. Don't throw iceballs, it could cause an
accident. Loose snow only.

Once you're inside our magically expanding Winter Holidays igloo, take a look
around. We have the Teen Reviews , highlighted earlier in this
newsletter. Lots of cool winter files to download; everything from wallpaper
to midis. Download some of 'em and decorate your computer in the holiday
spirit! Machines need love too, you know. Everyone's always saying their
computer hates them.. well, maybe it wouldn't if you'd take the time to make
it happy! A holiday computer is a happy computer. So go download those winter
files and maybe this time, Windows won't GPF you just before you save that
aforementioned ten-page pine tree research paper. <grin>

But don't stop there! The Winter Holiday area also has plenty of winter
websites for you to surf. Check them out when you can't stand the crowding in
the igloo. I mean, really. I wonder which YT bigshot came up with the
wonderful idea of stuffing as many people as possible into one ice-brick
structure, magical as it might be. Anymore body heat in there and the whole
thing will melt. So, get to the Winter Holiday area now!! <grin>

Now that you've had the pleasure of listening to that repeat from last week's news, I'd just like to mention that there isn't actually anything new in the Winter Holidays area. I figured I'd say the same thing I did before, cause there's nothing new to say. Except.. go see the Winter Holiday area -again-! <giggle>

GEEK HUMOR!
============
Last week, a bunch of people complained for one reason or another about the Mac songs. So this week.. yes, you guessed it.. I decided to publish even more songs! <cackle>

Happily Addicted to the Web
(to the tune of "Winter Wonderland")

Doorbell rings, I'm not list'nin',
From my mouth, drool is glist'nin',
I'm happy--although
My boss let me go--
Happily addicted to the Web.

All night long, I sit clicking,
Unaware time is ticking,
There's beard on my cheek,
Same clothes for a week,
Happily addicted to the Web.

Friends come by; they shake me,
Saying, "Yo, man!
Don't you know tonight's the senior prom?"
With a listless shrug, I mutter, "No, man;
I just discovered letterman-dot-com!"

I don't phone, don't send faxes,
Don't go out, don't pay taxes,
Who cares if someday
They drag me away?
I'm happily addicted to the Web!

BE A WINNER!
============
At the Teen Reviews Contest! Pardon me if I seem to be losing the humor edge as I write this. It's been a long day, I'm hungry, and my head hurts from staring at the screen. Other than that, everything's great! <giggle> So here we are again at the Teen Reviews Contest. I'll explain in brief. All you need to do is write up a short review of your favorite software program and send it IN for a change to WIN! Hey, that rhymed, cool... oh, there I go again getting off the subject. Sorry. Your review doesn't have to be all that involved. We're not looking for Pulitzer Prize-quality stuff here. Just tell us what you like about the game\program\whatever. Then, anyone else who visits the area can see what you wrote and decide if they like your favorite programs too. Sounds simple enough, no? If it doesn't, you're probably not the type of person who would be helping us out anyway. <smirk>

==================
ADDICTION CENTRAL!
==================
Puff, puff. Last section! Actually, it's not the last section for you. You've still got plenty of newsletter to read, don't worry. I knew you were worried for a moment. I'm psycho, remember? However, this one is last for me.. as in, I'm writing it last. I'm not sure why. Email me and ask, and perhaps you'll get an answer. Maybe I thought this would be the hardest to write.

I'm thinking I should quit straying off topic now. Welcome to Games! Central at YT! Here's the place to find talk about games, comments on games, hints for games, downloadable games, and websites about games. Need I say more? Games! Central is *the* central place for all your gaming needs. All your gaming wants anyway, since no one really *needs* to play games... at least according to mothers around the country.... well, whatever. <grin>

A DAY IN THE LIFE!
================
It's baaack! A day in the life.. of a YT host! We catch the hardworking hosts and pester them with questions until they start wishing they'd joined Tech Live instead. <evil laughter>
A lot of people complained when I first took out this section, and I've been meaning to put it back in ever since. So, this interview is dedicated to all those who took the time to pester me about it. This week's victim: YTCC Merlin.

YT News: Heyo Merlin, how are you this afternoon?

YTCC Merlin: I'm great! Thanks for asking!

YT News: So, tell me... are you the real Merlin? The wizard I mean.

YTCC Merlin: Heheh, well yeah, last time I checked.

YT News: Ok, cool. I think the question everyone's wondering is, what do Merlins do in their spare time? Oh yeah. And do you have an owl?

YTCC Merlin: Hmmm....... Merlin's do *magic* things in their free time. Such as use AOL and watch TV! And play sports.

YTCC Merlin: What kind of pets do I have? I have 2 ferrets, 1 tarantula, and 7 cats.

YT News: A tarantula? Did I hear that right? ::pricks up her pointy elf ears::

YTCC Merlin: You heard right! I have had my tarantula for a few years now.

YT News: I'm thinking Merlins have really nice moms. ::giggles:: Any other interesting facts you'd like to share?

YTCC Merlin: Yeah, my mom is pretty cool. Hmmm...... Well I am the President of a new Software Company called MerLINK Software and I am a Chat Room Host at YouthTech.

YT News: Sounds interesting. I shall be happy to report that Merlins are quite amusing creatures. Anything you'd like to say before we conclude?

YTCC Merlin: I was in AOL Insider today in the article about Community Leaders and Volunteers. Keyword: Insider.

YT News: Oh, neato! All righty then, that wraps it up! Reminder to everyone to check out AOL Insider and read about Merlin, or.. else!

Eeney meeny miney moe, catch a staffer by the toe! Tune in next week for a new edition of A Day In The Life.

CHA CHA CHAT!
=============
Ok, I admit it. I'm gonna be really lazy this week and just print the entire topic chat schedule instead of highlighting three chats. In the first place, I'm running out of chats to discuss that I haven't mentioned already in previous issues. b), it's almost Christmas day and I have a lot to do before Santa arrives. I'd like to get this letter finished. Figured I'd tell you that, since I believe in honesty. <giggle> And 3, you probably have a lot to do as well and don't have the time to read nonsense about chats you've been to every week for a month now. I will however, put in everyone's very favorite quote. This week's source was YT's very own green chicken (el pollo verde).

Heard in the Chatroom:
YTCCYooka: HEHE! There's always room for P - O - L - L -------- O!

When you recover from hysterical laughter, take a moment to read the YT schedule. <smirk>
