it's a party!: Happy Birthday Youth Tech!
submitted by YTCCNEWS@AOL.com
=====================================================
...It was one year ago today that Youth Tech opened its doors on AOL. Not very many people came to YT back then -- it was a really quiet place. It used to be a big thing to have more than 10 people in a chatroom at night!

Now times have changed, and we've grown a lot!! If you've been coming to YT for a long time, you probably have noticed lots of changes throughout. Changes that we hope are good.

Now that we're about to pass our one year anniversary here, we're looking forward, and looking to make YT an even better place for teens and kids of all ages. Look for more changes in the next month or two.

As always, we appreciate your feedback about YT, and hope you send us yours soon! Once again, happy birthday YT!!

a day in the life of:MEET YTCC SCOTT!
submitted by YTCCBYTE@AOL.com
=====================================================

Occasionally, we like to introduce you to various members of our Community Crew. Members of the crew offer a diverse experience that help in making Youth Tech what it is, besides our members! This week, we have rustled up YTCC Scott for a quick interview with the ever so talented... YTCCByte! ;D

YTCCByte: When did you become part of Youth Tech? And what made you want to become a YTCC?
YTCC Scott: I wanted to become part of YT because it looked like a fun place to work on AOL, and they are a great crew to work with ;)I joined Youth Tech... well lets just say "long ago". I think it was around April.
YTCCByte: What computer do you presently have and what would be your idea of a dream computer?
YTCC Scott: I am using a Power Mac 8500/120 and my Dream computer would be I would think a Sun Workstation =)
YTCCByte: Where did your computer experience start with and what was the experience of your first computer?
YTCC Scott: Well, my first computer was a Comador (not sure how to spell it),
and the expierence I had was trying to type in the right command to get the game to start on it ;-)
YTCCByte: Where do you see AOL and the internet in a few more years? :D
YTCC Scott: Well, I see AOL expanding itself a lot more. They will prolly will have video conferencing as part of its service then and as for the internet, that's really hard to say. It changes so much month after month. But, it will probobly be more interactive =)
YTCCByte: If you were stuck on a deserted island and you could only have a TV or Computer with AOL hook-up what would you choose and why?
YTCC Scott: Well, I'd choose the computer with AOL hook-up because..I would still be able..to talk to all the cool people at YT ;)
YTCCByte: If train A is heading to Miami at 78 mph and train B is leaving Miami at 67 mph when would they meet? er...What would you want to do when you grow up?
YTCC Scott: LoL! Well, I'd like to be a programmer for a computer company like Oracle or maybe an Online Service or an ISP, something along those lines.
YTCCByte: If computers didn't exist :::gasp::: what would you be doing
instead of going on-line?
YTCC Scott: I'd probobly be playing indoor soccer during the winter and outdoor during the summer ;) Right now its just outdoor soccer.
YTCCByte: How has your summer been going? And also, what is your
favorite computer game if any?
YTCC Scott: My summer has been going great! My favorite computer game is Marathon Inifinity and Abuse is a pretty cool game too.
YTCCByte: Have anything to add? ;D
YTCC Scott: Well, I've worked in another area on AOL before and I'd have to say that the people at Youth Tech are really fun to work with! =)

geek humor: More Tech Support Chuckles . . .

--- Dell customer called to say he couldn't get his computer to fax anything. After 40 minutes of trouble-shooting, the technician discovered the man was trying to fax a piece of paper by holding it in front of the monitor screen and hitting the "send" key.

--- Another Dell customer needed help setting up a new program, so a Dell tech suggested he go to the local Egghead. "Yeah, I got me a couple of friends,"the customer replied. When told Egghead was a software store, the man said, "Oh, I thought you meant for me to find a couple of geeks."

--- A Compaq tech support to say her brand-new computer wouldn't work. She said she unpacked the unit, plugged it in, and sat there for 20 minutes waiting for something to happen. When asked what happened when she pressed the power switch, she asked "What power switch?"

--- An AST customer was asked to send a copy of her defective diskettes. A few days later a letter arrived from the customer along with Xeroxed copies of the floppies.
