Man, there sure are a lot of image types out there. Sure you have the typical well known ones such as GIF, JPG, and BMP... but what about TIFF, or FSH!? Never heard of those? Well suppose you found an image in one of them and wanted to view it... what program would you use? Maybe you simply want to view image files or make small changes to them, but don't want buy a full program such as PSP, and you don't like the simplicity of paint. Or possibly you need to convert a large amount, or even a small amount, of files to another format, but don't want to waste time doing it one by one. Well, for all of these problems IrfanView comes to teh rescue! This freeware program created by Irfan Skiljan can open just about every image file used at this time. It's very large list of file types supported include PhotoCD, PSP, TIF, GIF, JPG, BMP, PNG, WMF, IMG, etc. You can even open EXE files... and it will give you a listing of icons inside of the file (these are used for shourtcuts, etc. within Windows). Some of the image editing features of the program include rotating the image, changing the DPI, altering the colors and their depth, and other various effects that can be applied. Need to know some detailed info on the image you are editing? Maybe you want to know it's color depth, or the amount of memory it is eating up on your computer. Simply open the Information window and IrfanView will give you info related to the current image. You can create slideshows from your images or if you have a series of images that go side to side, it will allow you to create a Panorama picture from them. Need to take a screen capture or a certain area? No problem, simply launch the Screen Capture utility from within the program and your ready to go. You can easily expand its features and effects using the plugins avaliable on the website which can be found at  http://www.irfanview.com. Overall, as a freeware image program which can do many basic tasks of altering and editing images, which is rare of free image programs, or even simply viewing them it gets very high marks on my list. Definatly worth a look. You may also wish to download all of the current Plugins to expand IrfanView from here.

   Installation:
