Upgrading to Windows XP
|
 |

The upgrade check will scan your hard drive for programs, and also
look at the hardware installed in your computer to determine if it is
compatible with Windows XP. Once it has completed this process, it will
display a summary page on what it found, and what needs to be done.
As shown here, I have a PCI Multimedia Device (video capture card
really) that will need drivers to work properly, and when the upgrade is
done, I will need to reinstall Easy CD Creator to make sure it will work
properly.

At this point, if there are any programs or hardware that will not
work under XP, you will be told that you need to remove them, or that
you will need to get an update to the program to make sure it will work.
Many companies have made driver upgrades and software patches available
for their hardware and software so that they work under Windows XP.
A good thing to do might be to print this report out, then as you
work through each item, put a check mark next to it. If you make any
changes to your system, make sure you run this again before installing
to ensure that those changes haven't introduced another XP compatibility
problem.
When all checks out, and you have updates or patches that might be
necessary, we can start the actual upgrade process!
