Upgrading to Windows XP

Upon inserting the CD, you'll get the screen that was shown at the
bottom of the previous page. Your first inkling might be to click the
Install button, but to make sure the installation goes smoothly, you
want to click the Check System Compatibility button instead.

When you click it, the options displayed will change to
the ones below:

Clicking the Check my system automatically button
will start an upgrade check wizard. This wizard will actually start the
setup program, but it won't install. It will just check your system to
make sure that XP will work properly on it. First, it will ask you if
you want to download updated Windows installation files. At this point,
it's not necessary to do so, so you can say no to that question and
click Next.

The wizard will load its information file, then begin
examining your system for any programs and hardware that are installed.

the Upgrade Report
