Video problems that occurs when you start Windows
normally, but
not in safe mode, are usually related to the display
driver. If you
have just upgraded windows the culprit may be an
outdate display
driver. To find out, use any text editor to open the
System.ini file
in you c:\windows
folder. Under the [boot] heading, search for the
Display= line. If
you see anything other than Display.drv=Pnpdrvt.drv
on this line
the driver is probably outdated and needs
replacing. Try adding
the driver from your Win95/98 CD in
display properties; if that
doesn't work, contact your video card
manufacturer or visit its
Web site for a win95 or win98 driver update
