Most newer PC's have two IDE controllers. The primary
controller
is normally attached to the system's PCI bus, the secondary
is
attached to the much slower ISA bus. Attach your primary hard
disk to the primary controller. Each controller has two
connections,
so you can chain a second hard disk off the primary
controller.
CD-ROM drives are much slower, so attach them to the
secondary
controller.
