First
off, let's hope you never have to use this. And you should
note, this should be used only if you're unable to startup off
of
your normal startup device (Hard Drive, usually). If you have
a
CD drive (internal) you can put a CD containing system software
into the drive, then try to startup. But, as soon as you hit the
power key, or restart, hold down the "C" key on your
keyboard.
This should work with CDs. Also, if you have any external
SCSI
devices (Zip drive, Jaz Drive, SyQuest Drive, etc) you can hold
down "Delete-Option-Shift-Command" during
startup.
This will start your computer up off of any SCSI device
(providing
that device contains the appropriate system software). That
should at least allow you to start up and then run Disk First
Aid
or another program such as Norton Disk Doctor, to find out
what's wrong. Again, never use this unless you have to
