With information being so important today, it can be a real
disaster when you've got a disk in the drive.... and it won't
eject. Now, you should always try a few restarts to see if
it'll come out, but if it doesn't, don't worry. Have you ever
noticed that small hole by the floppy drive (for macs that
have internal CD drives, it's there too). If you've got a disk
(or CD) stuck in that drive, and it won't eject, all you need
is one thing: a paper clip.
Take the paper clip, and straighten it out. Once it's straight
(try not to leave any bumps where it was bent) slide it into
that hole. Once in there, it should stop. Don't worry, this is
all normal. Once it has stopped, apply a slight amount of
pressure to the paper clip, until the disk pops out (or the
(CD tray
slides out). There's your disk. Now, chances are,
you're drive has a serious problem. You'll want to call a
certified Apple Technician and get it fixed. But for now, at
least you've got your disk.
NOTE: If you've got a a Zip drive, and you've got the same
problem, look on the back of the drive. That little hole is
there too. This rule applies to almost all third-party hardware
for the mac. Consult the instruction book/users manual that
came with the drive.
