A
default button is a button your Mac will suggest to you from
a series of choices. Often times, when you're presented
with
a choice of functions (such as "Save," "Don't
Save," and
"Cancel"), one of the buttons will be highlighted with
a dark
circle. This button is the default and usually the "safe
route."
It's also referred to as a "rubber tire," because of
the dark circle
around it.
If the default action is what you want to do, you can activate
the
"rubber tire" by simply hitting the Return or Enter
key -- no need
to move that mouse
