The Control Strip is a
handy little feature of the MacOS that gives
you easy access to many of the settings on your computer.
Instead
of using the appropriate Control Panel to change certain
settings,
the Control Strip allows you to do so with one simple click. It
allows
you to change your screen size (monitor resolution), volume
settings,
and even provides a really easy way to turn File Sharing and
Apple-
Talk on or off.
While you can define a
hot-key to show or hide the Control Strip in
the Control Panel, it appears by default in the lower left-hand
corner
of the screen. However, if this isn't the location where you
want it, it's
very simple to move! Just hold the Option key, and click (and
hold) on
the Control Strip. See your cursor turn into a hand? Now you can
drag
it around your desktop and put it wherever you want! It
"sticks" itself
to the side of the screen on either side of your monitor.
