If
your Mac's clock reverts back to the 1904 (or any other strange
year) as the date, never fear! It's not a virus, but a dead
battery.
Your Mac uses an internal (usually Lithium based) battery to
keep
time (Note for those of you using Powerbooks: Although you may
switch and recharge your battery often, this is NOT the same
bat-
tery that powers your computer). Although this battery has an
estimated life span of 3-5 years, when it goes dead, so does the
time and date keeping ability. All you have to do is go buy a
new
one. Depending on your model Mac, you can go over to your
local
Radio Shack and pick up one for anywhere between $5-$15.
You
can replace it yourself, although this involves removing the
Logic
Board from your computer (See your manual for instructions on
how to do this). However, as always, you would be best off
getting
the battery, taking your computer to a certified Apple
Technician,
and have him/her fix it for you
