How can I remove objects from my desktop? I don't want to delete them from my system, just off the desktop.

Answer:

The icons that are on your desktop should be shortcuts rather than the actual program file itself; you can check this by a few ways:
1) If there is an arrow on the bottom left hand corner of the icon then it is a shortcut and you can safely delete it.
2) If it says "Shortcut to <Program name>" then it is most likely a Shortcut and can safely be deleted as well.
3) If you right-click on the icon then click on properties then you can whether it is a Shortcut or not, there should be a line called "Type" and it will say either Application or Shortcut or something similar. If it says shortcut then you can delete it without worrying about removing the program from your system, if it says application then if you delete it it will remove it from your system.
