Question:
When i turn on my computer, it starts up as normal. The second before my desktop and stuff is
supposed to load, it goes to a DOS screen with the message "Trouble loading POSTINIT. Restart you computer" When I put in the Windows95 CD, windows starts up fine but without the CD, I get the message. The CD is not mine so how can I solve this problem?
Answer:
This sounds very much like a problem within Windows that is not allowing it to load correctly.
There are many ways this can happen, inadvertently changing an important file or a piece of software not uninstalling correctly are but a few.
The best way to fix this would be to reinstall Windows 95 from your CD or Floppy Disks as this will put all of the system files back to their original state. And should allow Windows to start up correctly without the CD.
