Question:

We have upgraded our modem to 56,000Voice Fax Modem and then all of a sudden all the sounds are gone from the very start when I opened my computer. Even when I am online on AOL the welcome sound and all the sounds are gone like the You've got mail etc. Also on a CD Rom when I tried to play a musical CD it also has no sound as well as all the midi sounds. I wonder what is the causes for the lost sound. Please help me solve this problem as I really miss hearing the welcome sound and the you've got mail, etc. sound. If you can please email me again at Usertac1@aol.com. I am really sorry to bother you again but I really need help again. Thank you so much!
Answer:

If you just added a new modem and have a sound problem, most probably you have a device conflict. The easiest solution you could try would be to make sure all the plugs are in correctly and that the modem was installed properly via Control Panel, Modems, Add New Modem. To get a tutorial from Windows 95, Click the start button, Help , then click Index. Type in: devices, troubleshooting. If you follow these instructions you will most likely solve your problem. You can also try Start button, Settings, Control Panel and try to look around the different icons - Add New Hardware and Multimedia.
