Question:

I tried to install 33.6 modem (Atlas) in my 486 DX2 66 computer. I set the COM port and IRQ per the existing 14.4 modem. After powering up my modem could not detect the COM port. The new modem has longer circuit board than the older one. So I tried it in another slot. After powering up, all I got was 1 long, 8 short beeps, no display. I found out that the meaning of these beeps is a Nonfatal error indicating "Display/retrace test failure". But I have no idea how to correct this problem. I have lost use of the machine and using my powerbook to write this question. Please help.

The only thing we can think of is to re-seat (take out and put back in) the video card. If that doesn't do it, then you should call the company that makes it. :\
