Question:

Hi...I'm not very computer smart, so I'm not sure how to categorize my problem. After I have been online for a while, maybe 20 minutes or so, I start to lose my screen. The words all run together, and when I close windows, part of the window stays on the screen. I get to the point where I have to sign off, and reboot the computer to do anything. Sometimes it looks like a "bad" jigsaw puzzle. Is this a virus. Sorry for my lack of smarts, but, this was the only way I could describe it. :)

Answer:

What it sounds like is that your Graphics (aka GDI) resources are getting used up. This can happen when a program uses the resources, but doesn't properly give them back to Windows. It can also happen when you have many programs open, each of them using large amounts of the GDI resource. There isn't any way to fix this problem, other than to close the programs. However, if the problem persists, then you would have to restart Windows to fix it.
