Hello...I have a PC 486-33 and was wondering why under the windows directory there are a number of temp files and what their purpose was. Example: File ~IWC4F0a.tmp. These files are beginning to take up HD space and want to know if they can be deleted to free up disk space. Have only started getting these files since being on-line with AOL. Thank you.
Answer:
Files that end in *.tmp are just Temporary files. They are sometimes used by installers, and programs just looking for more room to work with. Also, they are usually in directories as C:\Temp or C:\Windows\Temp. I personally just delete these files when I need to, and so far no errors have
occurred. :) Good luck!
