How can I make Netscape my default browser?

Question:

I had Netscape 3.02 installed but i preferred IE4.0 I recently installed Netscape Communicator and I like it better then IE.. is there a way to make it my default browser instead of IE?

Answer:

If IE is your default browser, Netscape should ask if you want to make it the default when you start it up. If it doesn't, there's a way to get it to work, but it's kind of long. Here it is:

Double-click on My Computer. When that comes up, go to the View menu and choose Options or Folder Options (if you have IE4). In the window that appears, click the File Types tab.

Scroll down the list until you find either Hypertext Document or Internet Document (HTML). When you find either of those, click on it, then click the Edit button. Under Actions, there should be a list of things that can be done to the file. There should be one that is in bold text, and it should be Open. Click that, then click the Edit button. The next window specifies what program should be run. First, uncheck the Use DDE box, then click the Browse button and locate where you installed Netscape. When you find it, click it, then click Open. Then click Ok on that window, and the window after it.

You should be back to the list of file types. Now, scroll down and find the following, then do the exact same thing for each of them:
- URL: File Transfer Protocol
- URL: Gopher Protocol
- URL: Hypertext Transfer Protocol
- URL: Hypertext Transfer Protocol with Privacy
