Question:

I am installing a Plug and Play sound card and internal modem into my IBM PC. When I went to slide in the products into the designated areas in the PC, they do not match up correctly. The modem and sound card have identical hookups and are supposed to hook up with IBM and clone PCs. Do I need to by an adapter for this installation? Your help is appreciated.

Answer:

This sounds like you have bought the wrong type of card for your computers bus system. Older PCs have different type of bus in them compared to new ones. The one you have probably bought is PCI or VL-BUS, but your computer probably doesn't support them. What you should do is take the Sound card and modem back to the shop you got them from and ask them to get you one that will fit your computers bus.
You can find out your computers bus type in the motherboards documentation.
