Getting cannot locate local IDE drivers at startup

Question:
I receive a "cannot locate IDE drivers" during startup, yet the driver functions properly. I installed it to run a new CD ROM. I am just getting into working on my own system, so I am not very experienced with repairs. I would like to know if there is any advice. Thank you.

Answer:
I am assuming that this error appears inside Windows 95. If this is the case, then you may not need to install new IDE adapter drivers, because you didn't change the IDE adapter, you changed what is hooked up to it. If Windows 95 can find your IDE adapter (usually on the motherboard in newer computers), then it can automatically tell what kinds of CD-ROM drive you have, and will set it up so that it works.
