Windows XP Control Panel

Keyboard Settings

Speed Tab: Often wonder why when you type it takes so long to repeat a letter or why the keyboard is so sensitive when you barely touch it?  This is where the Keyboard Control Panel comes in. From the speed tab you can adjust various settings to make typing easier.

The first slider, Repeat delay determines how long the keyboard will wait before beginning to repeat a letter. In other words, this decides once a letter is pressed and held how long to wait before beginning to repeat the letter.

The second slider, repeat rate determines how FAST to repeat the letter. After a key is held down the letter may quickly enter on the screen aaaaaaaa or it may take seconds between letters. a------a-----a, etc. This is helpful if you word process often and prefer holding down the backspace button rather than pushing it each time for each letter.

Hardware Tab: This tab controls various aspects of your keyboard hardware including it's driver. It's not recommended to change these settings unless directed to do so by a computer technician.
