The first tab of the Power settings, Power Schemes allows you to customize your
energy settings best to your computer usage. The first drop down is a list of
Preset Schemes used for various energy settings (Laptop, Always On, Desktop,
etc). You can either select from this list or select your own settings.
You can choose when to have your Monitor automatically turn off as well as your
Hard Disks. You may also choose to have your computer automatically go into
standby or hibernate after it hasn't been used for X amount of time.

The Power Settings - Advanced Tab allow for a few more options such as
displaying the Power Settings icon in the Tray (Taskbar), Asking for a password
when the computer comes out of Standby and changing your Power Button settings.
The Hibernate tab allows you to activate and deactivate the feature and explains
briefly what it does. The UPS tab is used if you own an Uninterruptible Power
Supply to customize various settings once main power is gone.
