The Sound
Properties Dialog box: The sound properties box is
pretty basic and simple to understand. You will see a
list of events
which you can scroll through and decide which events you
want sound for. Most of them are pretty self
explanatory as to when they will play, a few of them
aren't. Asterisk - is for "i"
Information Dialog boxes Like for when Find/Replace
completes,. and other information boxes.
Critical Stop plays
when you are trying to access a resource that is unavailable
or cannot be reached. Exclamation is for boxes that require
confirmation. Like the boxes that pop up asking you if you
would like to save when you try and close a document before
saving. The others are easy to understand.
You will also see sounds events for various other programs
on your computer. If you are an AOL user, this is
where you will find your AOL event sounds. If you are
tired of that guy telling you that you have mail and would
like a different sound played to alert you of your mail you
can change it here.
You will notice in the graphic above, that exit windows has
a little speaker next to it. This tells you that there
is a sound associated with that event. If you highlight that
event the path to the wav file wav file will appear in the
box below it. No little speaker, no
sound.
If you Click on the Details button it will show you the
details of the wav file for that sound as shown in the
graphic below. You can
also click the preview button to hear
that sound.
