Windows 98 Control Panel

Keyboard Settings

  • Keyboard Settings - Speed Tab: From this panel you can change a few things to help making your typing experience easier.

  • Repeat Delay slider will control how long it takes for a button to start to repeat. For example, you hold down the letter A key - this slider determines how long it will be before the letter A starts repeating (AAAAAA, etc). This is especially helpful for people who need to use other devices for typing.

  • Repeat Rate: This slider determines how quickly a letter itself will repeat when its held down. If your keyboard is really sensitive you may want to slow this rate down.  Below the slider is a "test area" where you can click and determine how fast a letter takes to begin repeating and how fast it actually repeats.

  • Cursor Blink Rate: This slider determines how often your cursor (the | cursor) flashes when you type. This is used to keep track of where you are typing in a document or program.
