The Accessibility Options make it
easier for people with disabilities
to operate a computer without installing special software.
Accessibility
options such as StickyKeys, ShowSounds, and
MouseKeys, are designed
to help users with specific disabilities make full use of the
computer.
However many people without specific disabilities find them useful
too.
You can use the Accessibility Wizard to easily set up these
functions...
by clicking Start, pointing to Programs, pointing to Accessories,
pointing
to Accessibility, and then clicking Accessibility Wizard. You can
also
change the Accessibility Properties individually by clicking on
the Icon
found in your control panel.
Keyboard:
StickyKeys-
Turns on StickyKeys, which enables you to press the CTRL,
ALT, and SHIFT keys and have them remain active until the
next time you press a key other than CTRL, ALT,
or SHIFT. This is useful for people who have difficulty
pressing two keys simultaneously.
Check the box to use sticky keys and then
click on settings for more options.
If you check the Keyboard shortcut box you will be able to
turn Stickykeys on and off by pressing the
shift key five times. By
checking the press modifier key twice to lock box you can
have
it so that when you press the CTRL, ALT, or SHIFT key twice
in
a row, the key remains active until you press the same
key again.
You can also check the Turn StickyKeys off if two
keys are pressed at once box to have it sot that it turns
off StickyKeys if you press a
modifier key (CTRL, ALT, or SHIFT) and a non-modifier key
simultaneously. This is useful if more than one person uses
the same computer.
You may be thinking to yourself that this could get really
confusing, how would you know if you had a modifier key on
or off? Not to worry as windows can help you with this too.
Use the Notification
options to have windows make sounds when a modifier key is
pressed and to show the StickyKeys status on
screen.
