Information About Youth Tech

For Teachers & Students

Welcome
Youth Tech is the ultimate information source for you and your students. Our goal as a community is to provide resources, articles and tutorials to increase knowledge in all areas of technology.

A Resource

Youth Tech contains several areas devoted to computing and technology. Large amounts of time and effort have gone into creating these areas so they may serve as a resource to others. We encourage you to utilize our information in lessons, while teaching, as a resource to students, parents, staff, etc. and as a link on websites. Below are some key areas which we think would be most beneficial to Teachers and Students..

  • Coding Microsphere - Contains articles on getting started as a programmer, tips & tricks of programming, programming resources and more.

  • Ham Radio - An area for Amateur Radio with articles explaining the hobby, how to get a license, the history of ham radio, modes of communicating and more.

  • Networking - An area to explain Networking, hardware: Routers, Hubs, Switches, NICs, CAT5 Cable, Networking Terms and more.

  • Net Surf - An internet resource with information about creating, maintaining and hosting a website. Also a gallery of Youth Tech Member's sites.

  • Tech Stuff - A huge computing resource. Contains article, tutorials, tips & tricks and much more on general computing in Windows and Macintosh.

    • Keyboard Shortcuts I & Keyboard Shortcuts II- Contains general Windows keyboard shortcuts for more efficient computing.

    • Tech Terms - A technology dictionary designed just for kids, teens and young adults. Hundreds of technology & computing terms in an easy-to-navigate list.

    • File Extensions - A handy list of common file extensions one may encounter while using the computer. Also in a list.

    • Windows Articles & Tutorials - Exploring windows' desktop menu, control panel, find feature, a windows XP preview & upgrade instructions plus more!

    • Emoticons - A complete list of common and not-so-common emoticons (smileys) used on the internet.

    • Software Center - Selected software with reviews and comments.

    • Shorthand - Listing of internet shorthand and acronyms.
