Youth Tech Through The Years
In
the summer of 1997 we were a part of AOL's Summer camp providing games,
and programming chats. We thought you would enjoy some of our old screen
shots from
All through the summer, Jeremy was hard at work designing a brand new look for YT! This included a brand new Logo, some new areas, new names for old areas and even some brand new Keywords to go along with it! Our Original Main Screen from September offered a sneak peak at it. Finally, the wait was over as Our New Look went live in mid-October! Here is a screen shot from the Youth Tech Newsletter announcing the new look. The new and improved YT was divided into six main categories:
Youth Tech had the honor of being officially presented with the Computerworld Smithsonian Award for Excellence and Innovation in the Field of Education & Academia! Jeremy proudly accepted The Computerworld HonorsMedallion on behalf of Youth Tech.
A new AOL Teen Chat Policy effected YT in mid-June. For online safety, our chatroom was made only available when a host was available. To see our original statement, follow the link above.
This was the night when Youth Tech
shifted from being exclusively on America Online, to it's current home on
the web! Most of the regulars and crew where in the
old AOL chatroom for this emotional moment just before it's
closing to bid farewell. Most of the crew was there anxiously
awaiting it's opening at midnight, and had also gathered in our new #ChatSHACK.
Since 1996, YT Direct (then the Youth Tech Newsletter) has been proudly reaching subscriber's mailboxes every other week. From the latest in technology and computers to fun articles, our newsletter has always been a popular choice amongst our members. In this month, we reached our peak at over 20,000 subscribers! If you don't subscribe yet, be sure to check out YT Direct today!
Exactly two years after moving to the web, our community is still growing and is very much alive. Youth Tech Edition of mIRC was released today as part of our anniversary celebration! Youth Tech thanks it's members for
helping make what we are today. We plan to be around for many more
years to come... and as always... For Teens, By Teens! :-) |
