Youth Tech Community Standards

Youth Tech is an online community for teens. Our goal is to have a clean and
safe environment for all ages, where everyone can feel welcome. If you follow
these simple guidelines we believe that your experience here will be a
positive one. By choosing to enter and participate in our community, you are
agreeing to abide by our community standards. Youth Tech reserves the right
to remove any post, submitted material or member who in our view doesn't
meet these standards.

Quick List of  things that have no place in our community:

HARASSMENT, VULGARITY,  PROMOTION OF DRUGS OR ALCOHOL,
IMPERSONATION, ADVERTISING, RUDE BEHAVIOR MEANT TO DISRUPT, PERSONAL INFORMATION - your own or anyone else's.

Common Courtesy
The following guidelines are just normal common courtesy.  Everyone has a
right to enjoy the Youth Tech Community.  When using our room and boards
we ask you to keep in mind that
everyone chatting is a real live human with
feelings.  Our community is made up of many different ages, backgrounds,
and personalities.  Harassment and Vulgarity are two things that have no
place in our community and simply will not be tolerated. Period.

Harassment
Is when you intentionally make inappropriate comments towards an individual
or group of people, that's meant to degrade their
race, heritage, ideas, or personality.

Simply Put... Don’t be mean!

You wouldn't want someone to tell you to shut up or call you stupid, so treat
people the way you expect to be treated.
NO NAME CALLING.  Sarcastic
remarks
hurt, don't make them. We have a wide range of ages in the Youth
Tech community, which brings different views, and ability's.  NO ONE should
have to be put down for who they are, how they spell or the grammar they use.

Keep it Clean
Remember that Youth Tech has members of all ages.  Vulgarity has no place
in Youth Tech. Simply don’t use it.  If you have a doubt whether something
is considered vulgar don't say or use it. Simple isn’t it?

Sexually explicit talk is not allowed in Youth Tech. Some things are just
better left unsaid!

The Rest…

Drugs, alcohol and tobacco:
Do not promote the use of drugs or alcohol in Youth Tech.  If you want to
abuse yourself with the use of these, please keep it to yourself.

Impersonation:
Don't pretend to be anyone who you aren't, we like you just the way you
are.  You may not impersonate anyone from the Youth Tech Community
Crew (YTCC), another member, or anyone else.

Advertising
Youth Tech Chat and Message boards are not the classified section of your
daily newspaper. Do not use them to advertise.

Youth Tech Hosts (YTCCs)
Youth Tech Hosts are here to make your experience at Youth Tech an enjoyable one. Remember they are people just like you are, and want you to enjoy our community. Listen when they ask you to stop doing something that may be offending another member or not be within the spirit of our community.  Remember they are all volunteers that do this to help make Youth Tech the best Community possible. Without them there would be no Youth Tech.

Chat
Scrolling, typing gibberish over and over, scrolling sounds, and other actions
meant to disrupt the flow of the room is not ok.  It makes people mad, and will
make your chat experience a negative one.

Personal Information
Bottom line is... we want you safe don’t give out personal information online.
Our community has members of all ages.  We do understand that different
people have different levels of awareness and maturity.  We take a general
no personal information policy in our community. This includes things like
your last name, phone number, address, and the name of your school. Phone
numbers include pagers and voice mail. You never know who might just be
gathering up your information for all the wrong reasons. We cannot enforce
these policies in your private conversations or email, however we do urge
you to ask your parents before you ever give out any type of information.
They can advise you best. Also remember:
If at any time someone is
creeping you out online, tell your parents! If you are unable to tell your
parents tell another adult that you trust, they will know the best thing to do.

Never give out another person’s personal information, including their name,
age, telephone number or anything else you know about them. Doing so will
be treated as harassment.  It is not your decision what information another
person wishes to share.

Final Note:  We at Youth Tech believe our members do know the difference
between right and wrong.  If you are in doubt please ask in a private message
or email. We are all here to help insure that
everyone has a chance to enjoy
our community. Common sense can go a long way, please use it. The simplest
thing you can do is just listen.
If you're asked to stop doing something that may be offending someone, then stop. Simple isn't it?
